Things you should do now… before a disaster

  1. Know the risks – Know what kind of hazards could affect you and your community.
  2. Get a kit – Be prepared to help yourself for up to 72 hours. First responders may be busy with more urgent responses. Remember every family member.
  3. Make a plan – Whether it’s in case of an evacuation or to mitigate risks to your farm or business, have a plan.
  4. Pick an emergency contact - Choose someone out-of-town and make sure everyone in your family knows how to contact them.
  5. Review your insurance – A policy could protect your home and belongings after a disaster.
